About Nikki

aka Snicks, Snicket, Snikie, the Snickster

Nikki stole our hearts at the Super Pet Expo in March of 2009. I'll never forget the day I saw her with her little "Adopt Me" bandana. Friends of Homeless Animals rescued her as a stray from a high kill-shelter in Southern Virginia, and we gave her the chance at a forever home.

Because shelter dogs can come with a certain set of challenges, we did all the right things to integrate Nikki into our home. She had a somewhat dicey relationship with our dog Jake, but Niks and Chance soon became best of friends. Chance was pack leader, and Nikki looked to her big brother for all of her cues and insight into the world around her.

Sadly, in February of 2013, Chance passed away at age 12. Since then, we have tried three times to bring another adopted dog home, but Nikki just won't have it. Our trainer told us that both dogs would have to lead completely separate lives within our home. For now, Niks is our special girl and we are a one-dog household.
